Decanter Wine and More

Tucked away on Via Carlo de Cesare, just steps from Piazza Trieste e Trento and the buzzing Via Toledo, Decanter Wine and More is one of those places you stumble upon and immediately feel lucky to have found. It’s intimate, softly lit, and radiates the kind of warmth that makes you slow down, exhale, and enjoy the evening.

The space feels like a mix between a wine cellar and a friend’s living room — rustic walls, wooden shelves lined with bottles, and music that makes conversation flow. Locals drop by after work, couples settle in for slow evenings, and visitors often discover it while wandering through the Quartieri Spagnoli.

The stars of the show, of course, are the wines. The owners, Carol and Fabrizio, treat every bottle as a story to be told. They’ll happily guide you through their selection — from crisp Falanghina and minerally Greco di Tufo to full-bodied Aglianico and Taurasi reds — all expressions of Campania’s incredible terroir. They also feature lesser-known Italian labels and a few international gems, so it’s easy to explore without pretension.

Food at Decanter is designed to complement, not compete. The taglieri (cheese and charcuterie boards) are generous and beautifully composed: ribbons of prosciutto and salami, wedges of aged caciocavallo, creamy gorgonzola, honey, and house-made jams that balance every sip. There are also crostini and bruschette topped with seasonal ingredients — simple, flavourful, and very Neapolitan in spirit.

What really makes Decanter shine, though, is the hospitality. Carol greets everyone as if welcoming them into her home, while Fabrizio describes each wine with contagious enthusiasm. Reviews often mention how their warmth turns a casual drink into an experience. It’s the kind of place where you end up chatting with the next table or asking for “just one more glass.”
